The Ferrari 330GT 2+2 was presented at the annual Ferrari pre-season competition press conference in 1964. This was the follow-up of the Ferrari 330 America which was visually identical as the Ferrari 250GTE however it was fitted with a 4-Litre engine. The Ferrari 330GT 2+2 kept the 4-Litre engine however it was built with smoother and rounder lines and with its ‘own’ chassis and bodywork. The previous 330 series shared either the body and/or the chassis. For the design of the body, Ferrari partnered with Pininfarina again. The production of the 330 series ended when the Ferrari 365 series was introduced.
The Ferrari 330GT 2+2 initially was fitted with a twin headlight which has the American look. The production totalled 625 units.
The more desirable Series II was introduced and came standard with a 5-speed gearbox. Only a total of 455 units were produced making this a collector’s item.
The name ‘330’ refers to the approximate displacement of every cylinder. The 12 cylinders were fed by three Weber carburettors.
